March 2026 | BLOOM Solo Exhibition | Park City UT
This body of work stems from the idea of a bloom, exploring how that concept shows up—both literally and metaphorically—across my paintings.
Each piece is built through thousands of individual gestures. I’m interested in the way sustained attention and labor will generate complexity, and how the accumulation of small acts can feel cosmic in scale and be transformative in effect. I engage deeply with the material nature of paint—how it pools, spreads, and moves across the surface, and how layering generates depth and richness. The work balances intention and surrender, precision and spontaneity. I think of moments like the gradual unfurling of a bud and the unpredictable expansion of pigment meeting water—each requires patience, and each holds the potential for surprise.
I’m drawn to the place where nature and human-made structures overlap, where patterns repeat across plants, buildings, and systems. Working with collage, painting, and printmaking techniques, I build densely layered surfaces. One of my distinctive processes involves placing thousands of beads of paint by hand, each one applied with a brush to form intricate screens. The work hovers between abstraction and representation, carrying hints of botanical forms and architectural structures amid fields of pattern.
For me, making art is a defiantly personal act—a way of insisting on the handmade, the slow, the deliberate. In a culture that values speed, I’m drawn to the slow bloom—one shaped by patience, repetition, and care. Returning again and again to place another mark, another bead of color, becomes a way of honoring process, and of insisting on the importance of complexity, beauty, and close looking. My hope is that this intention is something that you can both see and feel.

AS OF NOW | Santa Fe
Opening Reception: Friday, November 14, 2025, 5:00 - 8:00pm; 203 Canyon Road, Santa Fe, NM 87501
K Contemporary, one of Denver’s most dynamic and innovative contemporary art galleries, is thrilled to announce its expansion with a new location open on the iconic Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This marks an exciting new chapter for the gallery, deepening its connection to the Southwest’s vibrant artistic legacy and international art scene. To celebrate this milestone, K Contemporary will host a Grand Opening Party on Friday, November 14, from 5–8 PM at the new gallery located at 203 Canyon Road. The event will welcome collectors, artists, and art lovers to experience K Contemporary’s distinctive approach to contemporary and conceptual art in its newest space. For K Contemporary owner and founder Doug Kacena, the opening of a Santa Fe gallery represents the realization of a long-held dream. “Having a gallery in Santa Fe has always been a vision of mine,” says Kacena. “Canyon Road is one of the most storied art destinations in the country, and expanding K Contemporary’s presence here feels like both a homecoming and a bold new step in our mission to advance the dialogue around contemporary art. I hope we can add to this already magical place.” With its expansion to Santa Fe, K Contemporary introduces a fresh and fearless curatorial voice to the Canyon Road scene. The gallery’s programming champions a wide spectrum of material practices—ranging from mixed media and installation to textile-based works—reflecting a deep commitment to experimentation and material innovation. Many of the gallery’s artists engage powerfully with themes of identity, environment, and social justice, positioning their work at the intersection of beauty and critical discourse. Bringing together artists from across the U.S. and around the globe, K Contemporary’s roster reflects an international perspective that infuses the program with diverse cultural viewpoints and conceptual depth. Each artist represented by the gallery has been included in museum exhibitions, underscoring the gallery’s dedication to presenting work that resonates both within the commercial art world and beyond. By weaving together social consciousness, international vision, and bold materials, K Contemporary offers Santa Fe a new platform for boundary-pushing contemporary art—one that celebrates risk, relevance, and resonance. Since its inception, K Contemporary has distinguished itself by recontextualizing and advancing the dialogue about our experience of art. Known for its artist-centric approach, the gallery emphasizes contemporary and conceptual work with rich historical context—providing patrons with thought-provoking exhibitions, immersive pop-ups, art fairs, and ambitious art interventions. Over the years, its artists have been acquired by and featured in exhibitions at major institutions including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Denver Art Museum, as well as at prestigious global events and art fairs such as the Venice Biennial, Sharjah Biennial, Biennial of the Americas, The Armory Show, Untitled Art, and Zona Maco.

Two pieces from my “Borrowed Landscapes” project series will by on view as part of the Young Curators program at Site Santa Fe.
Opening Friday, April 4th from 5-7pm, artist will be present.
About the series:
“In January 2017, in response to the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord, I began Borrowed Landscapes, a series exploring shifting perspectives in an evolving America. Climate change, economic instability, and social division are reshaping our collective future. To navigate this transformation, we must embrace impermanence and reexamine our past through a new lens. Using landscape—our most universal visual reference—I investigate changing viewpoints and modes of communication.
Images of America’s monuments, cities, and landscapes serve as markers of national identity. Postcards from the early to mid-20th century, depicting scenic highways and towering buildings, tell a story of America that no longer exists. By altering these familiar images, this series encourages viewers to reassess long-held beliefs and assumptions. The use of literal screens over American landmarks symbolizes the ways in which inherited ideas can obscure reality.
I manipulate original vintage postcards, painting precise grids of dots to unify and obscure the images simultaneously. This process distills colors and abstracts details, requiring the observer to both focus and reinterpret what they see. The material itself—aged, worn, and historically rich—creates a tangible connection to an everyday archive often overlooked or discarded. Postcards, once personal and ephemeral, now serve as historical anchors in an era detached from its past.
As marvels of the past become mundane and monuments shrink within expanding cityscapes, we confront the reality that landscapes—both physical and cultural—are constantly in flux. Recognizing this impermanence is crucial to our shared future.”

March 2025 | Park City UT | TO THE SKY | Solo exhibition
TO THE SKY
My work reflects a dialogue between the grounded beauty of the natural world and the vast potential of the unknown. Using mixed-media techniques and a pattern-based approach, I create abstract paintings that weave together elements of the tangible and the ethereal. Through layers of texture, color, and visual rhythm, I explore the tension between the microcosm and the macrocosm—the petals of a blossom mirroring constellations, the ripples of a pond echoing the orbits of stars.
Each painting is a meditation, inviting viewers to contemplate the consonance between natural cycles and our manufactured systems. By blending organic imagery—blossoms, leaves, and geometric forms—with abstract and intuitive mark-making, I hope to access the spaces where absence and presence intersect, blurring the boundaries between what is seen and what is felt.
“To the Sky” serves as both a reflection and a reach—a reminder that while we are set by the earth beneath our feet, we are also inherently drawn to the vast unknown above. Through these works, I hope to evoke the quiet awe of looking up at a star-strewn sky or observing the intricate beauty of a flower, encouraging viewers to find moments of connection within the patterns of nature and beyond.

FUCKING FLOWERS GROUP EXHIBITION
May 13 - June 10, 2023 • Opening reception May 13th, artist will be present.
Fucking Flowers takes the art historical trope of still-life genre painting to new extremes. Featuring a bouquet of 10+ artists including Elizabeth Alexander, Marc Dennis, Andrew Jensdotter, Daisy Patton, Nina Tichava, Angel Ricardo Ricardo Rios, and Francisco Souto, the exhibition spans materials and styles with an array of mixed media art that ranges from the representational to the conceptual. This brazen, fun, spring-with-an-edge show is the antidote to a burly winter.
For thousands of years, flowers have been potent symbols in the visual and literary arts carrying coded meanings. Whether representing different gradations of love, purity, fecundity, spirituality, or decay, flowers show up at life’s most poignant occasions (births, weddings, deaths). They infiltrate fashion and décor and can be noxious or curative, fragrant or carnivorous. Inevitably, flowers begin by seducing us with their beauty. Fucking Flowers aims to do the same – seducing viewers with astonishing aesthetics into having more nuanced conversations about the nature of beauty, metaphor, exoticism, social justice, and human behavior.

DECADE at Laura Rathe Fine Art, Dallas
Tenth Anniversary group exhibition
Marking its tenth year in the Dallas Design District, Laura Rathe Fine Art is pleased to present DECADE, a group anniversary exhibition commemorating the gallery’s history and celebrating an exciting future ahead. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, February 18, from 4:30-7:30pm.
Laura Rathe started her career working as a private art dealer before establishing Laura Rathe Fine Art (LRFA) in 1998 in Houston, Texas. In 2013, Rathe, with the help of Gallery Director, Janice Meyers, opened LRFA's second gallery in Dallas on Dragon Street, further expanding the institution's presence in Texas. Since then, LRFA Dallas has helped foster the city’s remarkable art community. As a woman-owned, women-run business, LRFA has continually built platforms for artists, watching them rise and push the bounds of the world of contemporary art. Rathe and her team’s unorthodox approach to creating conduits within the art world has supported her vision of enriching lives through art, cultivating personal relationships with each artist, client, and designer.
DECADE honors this incredible journey in Dallas through a breadth of stylistic approaches and innovative media by notable artists from around the world such as James Verbicky, Audra Weaser, Gian Garofalo, Matt Devine, Stallman Studio, Zhuang Hong Yi, Hunt Slonem, Lucrecia Waggoner, Nina Tichava, Meredith Pardue, Carly Allen Martin and many more. This February, LRFA is also delighted to introduce Linling Lu, Marcos Anziani, Lynn Sanders, Ian Rayer-Smith and Kandis Susol to Dallas.
Through this momentous exhibition, LRFA pays tribute to the past decade, which could not have been possible without the unyielding support of their patrons, the passion and drive from their staff, and of course, the immeasurable talent and unwavering commitment of their artists.
DECADE will be on view through March 25, 2023.

“Mirage” with Nina Tichava and Marina Savashynskaya Dunbar at Laura Rathe Fine Art
Houston, TX. Laura Rathe Fine Art (LRFA) announces Mirage, a two-woman exhibition featuring new works by Marina Savashynskaya Dunbar and Nina Tichava. LRFA will be hosting the opening reception on Friday, November 18 from 5-8pm at our River Oaks District gallery (4444 Westheimer Rd). Nina Tichava will be in attendance.
Mirage explores Marina Savashynskaya Dunbar and Nina Tichava’s individual artistic processes through a lens of reality vs. imagination. While both practices are distinct in their own right, each artist creates spatial compositions complex enough to leave the viewer questioning what is actually in front of them and what they believe they are seeing. Through gestural movements and seamless layering, the viewer is lost in the space between one line and the shadow of another as the paintings create a dreamlike escape from reality.
Inspired by nature, architecture, and textiles, artist Nina Tichava relies on processes of layering and intricate patterning. While Tichava’s work is seemingly geometric, dominated by leitmotifs of circles across parallel and intersecting lines, upon closer inspection, each painting is rendered organic and delicate by the underlying texture. Her unique system of collaged dots punctuate the work with a three-dimensional quality, drawing the viewer even closer to appreciate every moment.
Marina Savashynskaya Dunbar’s nature-based abstractions are composed through harmonious movement, material improvisation, and layers of translucent color. Using gravity to direct the flow of her materials such as paint and sand, she allows the element of chance to create an airiness in the work. Her surfaces seek the dichotomy of having reservation and the embrace of the unforeseen.
Mirage will be on display through December 10th.
